I am delighted to have one of my new Lockdown Landscapes pre-selected for the RSW Annual Exhibition at the RSA. This painting is inspired by way walks on Portobello Beach, in Edinburgh, during Lockdown, when I discovered a quiet end of Portobello beach, which is revealed when the tide is low. I aim to capture the ever changing light and feel of the changing landscape, rather than representational detail and am exploring how pared down the gesture of painting can be, whilst still capturing a sense of time and place.
