Welcome to the website of artist Jenny Smith. Jenny has an independent studio practice creating drawings, paintings, limited edition prints and artist books.

Jenny’s  practice invites us to question how broad the definition of drawing can be and is underpinned by an exploration into the relationship between memory, process and place. Investigating drawing as an act of touch—where one material meets another— over the years Jenny has  drawn with a diverse range of media, including paper, paint, print, moving image, laser cutting and engraving, sunlight, and her own body.

Her current work is rooted in her experience of living on a Croft on the Isle of Lewis. It examines embodied  relationships with both landscape and drawing. Exploring how objects and experiences both hold and create stories, foregrounding the rich cultural heritage of both crofting and storytelling in the Highlands and Islands.

​Jenny has won a number of awards for her work, which is held in collections nationally and internationally.
